Industry Experience:Licensed in 2011
What is your biggest contribution to the industry/salon?“Color runs in my blood! I have a grandma and Auntie in the industry and an uncle who is a barber. I’ve grown up around hair and I have always been curious to learn more! I’m always up for watching, learning and helping my peers and/or fellow hair stylists. I love the feeling of a family environment within LaMae Salon.”
In your opinion – what is your biggest strength?“The ability to transition between the needs of all ages who walk into the salon. I’ve taken child development, classes that have not only shown me how children think, but to be able to tend to their needs. It has also taught me how to listen and have patience. I’ve also taken care of both my grandparents in and out of the hospital; being able to successfully execute a clipper cut in a hospital bed is harder than one would think. But these experiences have made me think outside the box and adapt to situations well.”
List any extra certifications or awards you have received“Barber Johns Clipper Class. Matrix Color Correction, Joico braiding techniques. In school, I received a dedication award for having only missed 4 days all year!”
What is it that you love most about your trade?“The instant gratification! I love seeing the look on my clients face when they see me create a look/style that emphasizes their personality and makes them feel good. I love being the ear for someone who just needs a listener. I also enjoy using my skills to create artwork, turning a blank canvas into something beautiful.”
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?“I love hiking and 4-wheeling, family time and scrapbooking and attending hair shows and events”
